JABALI ACADEMY’S 3RD ANNUAL “EMPOWERING MINDS” FUNDRAISER HONORED VISIONARY LEADERS AND ENTERTAINERS FOR THEIR IMPACT AND SERVICE TO THEIR COMMUNITIES

LOS ANGELES, CA – Jabali Academy’s third annual Empowering Minds Gala was held on July 31st at Inuit Dome in Inglewood, California. It was an inspiring evening celebrating educators, artists, entertainers, and community leaders while raising critical support for the Academy’s inaugural school year. This year’s event brought together community partners, philanthropists, and supporters to help expand educational opportunities for students rooted in the African Diaspora.
Jabali Academy honored actor Anthony Anderson, director Gina Prince-Bythewood, multi-hyphenate entertainer Debbie Allen & Norm Nixon, former professional basketball player; actress Holly Robinson Peete & Rodney Peete, former professional football player.
Attendees included: All-American cast members, Sylvester Powell, Kelly Jenrette, Mustafa Speaks and Chelsea Tavares, Beauty in Black’s Charles Malik Whitfield, Actor Sean Patrick Thomas, television personality Rocsi Diaz, Cece and Bryon Scott and More!
Jabali Academy continues to be on target to raise $10 million with participation of donations from this year’s attendees. The funds raised will be used directly to open the doors of Jabali Academy this year in August for their first school year.
“What a night it was in the Intuit Dome as we formally introduced ourselves to the Inglewood community and were able to shine light on notable figures who have been doing the work of uplift and empowerment for many years,” said Dr. Jon Carroll, Founder of Jabali Academy. “As we prepare to open the doors to Jabali Academy this fall, we are excited about the continued momentum and partnerships that we are building in the name of making Jabali Academy a lasting institution.”
